BRONZES
Complementary to my shoedesigns I like to make sculptures as well.
Some very shoe related, others less.
Bronze is a material I love to work with because of the technique that is involved and the variety of patinas that can be used to give the sculpture it’s color.
First the sculpture is made. Then a silicone mold is made around the sculpture. Now it is possible to recreate the sculpture in wax. Then it is covered in plaster and heated until the wax is completely gone. The empty space which is left is then filled with bronze.
I have used this technique to create the bronze heels of the VICKEY shoes, made in the shape of a key.
